A day after senators from his own political party gave his troop withdrawal plan for Syria a major brush back, and demanded a review of approach to Afghanistan, President Trump defended his foreign policy in the Middle East in morning tweets.

The GOP-controlled Senate voted Thursday to advance a bill checking Trump's strategy in the Middle East, where he claimed that ISIS had been decimated and announced an immediate retreat of U.S. forces.

'We will soon have destroyed 100% of the Caliphate, but will be watching them closely. It is now time to start coming home and, after many years, spending our money wisely. Certain people must get smart!' he claimed.

Trump also claimed credit for a deal with the Taliban that would see. U.S. forces coming home after nearly two decades of beating back terrorists in the country.

WNU Editor: The Taliban were hit hard by U.S. forces when Presidents Bush and Obama were in the White House .... even with their rules of engagement that restricted U.S. operations. The Taliban are talking about peace right now because they believe that President Trump is sincere when he is saying that he wants U.S. forces out of Afghanistan, and they see this as an opportunity to have coalition forces out of Afghanistan .... Trump 'serious' about Afghan withdrawal, Taliban says (AFP). As to how sincere the Taliban are about the peace process .... I have zero trust in what they say.
